24/7 Solutions - World Wide Web architecture.

In the name of the project which has become by basis WWW, the deep sense is incorporated. The word "Web" corresponds not only to "web" of cross references, but also real physical topology of a network.

The Web-topology is a radially-ring structure, which examples we find in the nature (a web weaved by a spider) and which is actively used in human activity (for example, at creation of a city transport network). Constructed on the basis of Web-topology, the radially-ring switched network is characterized by the following:

  • good controllability (center is present);
  • unlimited scalability (the sizes of a network are defined by number of rings-circles and beams);
  • fault tolerance (communication between in all units is kept at refusal up to 50 % of communication lines);
  • simplicity of addressing - each MAC-ADDRESS of unit has three components: number highways (radius), number of a circle (ring) and number of user's station;
  • a network transparency (switching in units is made at the MAC-LEVEL, therefore the network is transparent for all reports 3-7 of levels of OSI-model);
  • the raised level of safety (subscribers are on periphery of a network and are connected to boundary switchboards in which their status is defined at each connection).

At construction of corporate networks boundary switches are placed already at a level of working groups and unite 10-12 segments of network Ethernet that provides independent service of each segment of a network. In case of need everyone the segment can be connected directly to one workstation that allows to use effectively high-speed appendices.

The switches working at the second (channel) level of model OSI, represent, as a matter of fact, multiport bridges, in which processing of the MAC-ADDRESS in heading of staff Ethernet is made, and the exchange of the staff between ports is carried out through the internal high-speed trunk. For realization of a mode of switching without blocking speed of transfer on the trunk should be more than total speed of transfer on all ports, and reduction of a waiting time is reached by breakdown of staff Ethernet on fixed 53-bites cells report ÀÒÌ. For the organization of access to main network ÀÒÌ in everyone the switch one port providing transfer of cells with speed 155 Mbit/sec is necessary even.

However lack of "pure" Web-architecture is necessity for different types of the switches which are being units of a network:

  • the central switch settles down in the center of "web";
  • when direct connection to it N subscribers on the main channels is carried out, at great values N it enters into a mode of blocking;
  • the transit switch has 4 fixed channels - Z (up-link), L (left-link), R (right-link) and D (down-link);
  • the boundary switchboard also has 4 channels;
  • it provides connection rather low-speed the equipment of the subscriber on the descending D-channel that does not allow to use high-speed main channels effectively.

Into hierarchical structure of modern corporate information systems enter:

  • the central server (database) at the main office of the companies;
  • local servers of divisions (hierarchically connected to servers of subdivisions in greater corporations);
  • stations-clients (the personnel of the company).

The given structure assumes construction of networks of two levels: the base (main) network connecting among themselves servers, and sets of local networks, uniting stations-clients and representing to users an opportunity of an exchange data and access to corporate information resources.

Presence both central, and local servers and necessity of maintenance of equal in rights high-speed access to it from stations-clients causes requirements contradicting each other to topology of a network which should be Distributed, but with obviously expressed center to have roundabout ways, but to not have cycles. To these conditions to the full there corresponds Web-topology which, however, is necessary for modifying for the best realization of hierarchical character systems the client-server.
